H.E. Mohammed Abdulla Ahli began his aviation career in 1966 with dnata (Dubai National Air Travel Agency) and held several key positions leading to the position of Director, Ground Services, according to his official public profile.

In 1982, he moved to the Department of Civil Aviation,presently the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, as Operations Director, responsible for all Airport Operations and International Affairs. He represented the Federal Government at several high level ICAO meetings, and played a key role in the establishment of the Airspace for the United Arab Emirates.

A popular figure in international circles and an expert negotiator, Mr. Ahli is widely credited for being instrumental in bringing more airlines to Dubai and steering the emirate's aviation industry in the right direction through the years. He is also touted as among the pioneers who convinced the leaders to establish Emirates Airline, now a global leader in the aviation industry.

 

“On the 5th of October each year, we celebrate UAE Civil Aviation Day, which gained prominence thanks to the wise guidance of our visionary leadership, which has sought to establish efficient infrastructure and provide workers in the sector with extensive skills, as well as developing the appropriate regulations that ensure the continuity and prosperity of the sector,” Mr. Ahli was quoted as saying on the occasion.

“The fact that we consistently follow the highest standards of safety and security, we have continued developing our human capital and constantly seeking to innovate, have all contributed to the success the sector is witnessing now. This in turn is the most significant incentive for the development of future plans intended to maintain our advanced position on the global aviation industry map.

” Mr. Ahli, the First Vice President of Airports Council International (ACI) Asia/Pacific Region, continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

He held the Chairmanship of Gulf Airport Services Association (GASA) with distinction for two years. He was an active member of the Arab Organization of Civil Aviation (AOCA) and was a member of the Governing Board of ACI. 

He continues to be an ardent advocate for the “Open Skies Policy” and is strenuously working towards its implementation in the Gulf.

Mr. Ahli was awarded the “ICAO scroll of Honor” in 2011, for his contribution in organizing and hosting the innovative International Civil Aviation Negotiation (ICAN) Conference held in Dubai in 2008.
