Ali Salem Ali Midfa

Chairman

Sharjah Airport Authority

Ali Salim Al Midfa has over two decades of aviation experience. He joined Sharjah International Airport in January 1996 and moved up through the ranks to become Director of Administration and Commercial in October 2001, having first joined the airport in 1996.

Al Midfa excelled in his role and was soon promoted to Director of the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) in June 2005. He successfully oversaw a number of initiatives which led to his appointment as the SAA's Director-General in February 2012.

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued a Royal Decree appointing Al Midfa Chairman of the SAA in January 2014. Moreover, Al Midfa is an active regional board member of Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific.

Al Midfa is also Chairman of Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS), which is a ground-handling, joint venture owned by Sharjah Airport Authority and Air Arabia, the first low cost airline in the Middle East and North Africa, whose hub is at Sharjah. SAS provides passenger and ramp handling services; and it operates one of the region's leading cargo hubs.

Al Midfa also manages Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA), established in 1984 and fully owned by the Sharjah Airport and the Government of Sharjah.

Started as a small agency to service passengers traveling through the airport, it became a fully accredited IATA Travel Agency in 2001.

Since 2011, SATA has become one of the fastest growing travel agencies in the United Arab Emirates with its main office in downtown Sharjah and nine branches spread around seven prime locations: Sharjah International Airport, Rolla Mall, Al Arouba, Al Nahda, SAIF Zone, as well as branches in the Industrial Area, Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah. More branches are planned in other emirates in the near future.
