H.E. Sulaiman Al-Hamdan is the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector. Counted among the dynamic leaders in the Kingdom, Al-Hamdan’s expertise in aviation traverses various functions - leadership and management, finance, and strategic planning and development.

Prior to being appointed as President of GACA, Al-Hamdan served as President and Group Chief Executive Officer of NAS Holding where he presided over a team of industry experts that helped turnaround the fortunes of the Group during his six year tenure. Al-Hamdan has a proven track record in Saudi Arabia’s banking sector, having worked at The Saudi British Bank (SABB) for 23 years where he last served as Deputy Managing Director in charge of all the bank’s customer-facing departments including corporate & commercial banking, private banking, institutional banking, the entire network of branches, three regional area management offices, remote delivery channels and all the retail market segments which included credit cards, payment and cash management and trade services.

Al-Hamdan’s extensive experience in HR & Personal Banking gained during his tenure at SABB was advantageous and valuable during his leadership role at NAS Holding Group. Prior to working at SABB, he served at the Saudi Fund for Development in various capacities across the Loans, Capital and Investment Departments. Al-Hamdan currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Arabia Airlines as well as a Board Member of Gulf International Bank (GIB) in Bahrain.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Management & Organization, and Marketing from the University of New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He has attended several high-level trainings such as INSEAD’s Strategic Management of Services Programme, Harvard University’s Advanced Management Programme and Human Resource Management at Pennsylvania State University.
