CAE Names Elle Betchley as Fifteenth Women in Flight Ambassador

At the Farnborough International Airshow, CAE announced that Elle Betchley has been selected as the fifteenth CAE Women in Flight Ambassador. The initiative, launched in 2018, encourages women to pursue aviation careers, aiming to increase awareness and inspire future female pilots.

Elle is currently enrolled in the CAE Generation easyJet Pilot Training Program, where she is training to become a co-pilot on the Airbus A320. Upon completing the program, she will officially join easyJet. As a CAE Women in Flight Ambassador, Elle received a full scholarship valued at over €100,000, covering her entire training.

As an ambassador, Elle is dedicated to encouraging more women to enter the aviation industry. “This is not just about inspiring women; it’s about changing how people think,” Elle said. She hopes to demonstrate what’s possible for women in aviation and help reshape the industry’s workforce.

“Women make up only 4-6% of professional pilots worldwide,” said Marie-Christine Cloutier, CAE’s Vice-President of Strategy. “With the need for 300,000 new pilots by 2032, we aim to attract more women to the profession.” CAE’s program aims to build a network of ambassadors like Elle to highlight the importance of diversity in aviation.

Formerly trained as an agronomist, Elle’s journey into aviation was inspired by her husband, who also completed CAE’s easyJet Pilot Training Program. Her appointment as an ambassador marks a significant step in her career and a move to inspire future female pilots.
