At the Farnborough International Airshow, Flynas and Airbus celebrated a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the acquisition of 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330-900s. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia, Ayed Al Jeaid, Chairman of NAS Holding, Bandar Almohanna, CEO & Managing Director of Flynas, and Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
The new aircraft will be integrated into Flynas’s existing all-Airbus fleet, enhancing their service on international, domestic, and regional routes. The A330-900s will feature a two-class layout, accommodating up to 400 passengers.
Bandar Almohanna expressed enthusiasm about the deal, stating, “We’re thrilled to deepen our long-standing relationship with Airbus. The A320neo Family’s exceptional performance and environmental advantages will enable us to offer cost-effective travel experiences. Meanwhile, the A330-900 will elevate our long-haul capabilities with its advanced technology, supporting our growth objectives and Saudi Arabia’s pilgrim programme.”
Christian Scherer of Airbus remarked, “We’re pleased to extend our collaboration with Flynas with this landmark agreement for the A320neo and A330-900 aircraft. The A330neo will help Flynas enter widebody markets, building on the advantages of the A320, and both aircraft types provide the versatility and efficiency needed for market expansion while offering passengers top-notch cabin comfort.
