Pakistan extends flight suspensions until further notice

Pakistan government recently extended the suspension of domestic and international flights till the end of this month, according to a circular issued by the country’s Civil Aviation Authority.

“Government of Pakistan has extended the suspension of domestic and international flights up to Thursday, April 30, 2020, 2359 PST,” it said in a statement posted on its website. Islamabad decided to suspend the operation of all international passenger, chartered and private aircraft inbound flights to Pakistan from March 21. The suspension was later extended again. The latest suspension of international flights was announced till April 21, which now has been extended till April 30.

However, special flights from the UAE and other Gulf countries will operate as planned to repatriate stranded Pakistanis in the region.

The first flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) carrying 200 stranded passengers in the UAE is scheduled to depart today at 6.30pm from Dubai to Islamabad. Boarding will start around 2pm, sources said.
