Türkiye Delivers First T625 Gökbey Utility Helicopters

In a significant milestone for Türkiye’s defense sector, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has delivered the first T625 Gökbey helicopters to the country’s military police, aimed at replacing the aging Bell UH-1 fleet.

Equipped with Advanced Indigenous Systems
Ankara-based Aselsan developed 34 unique avionics systems for the T625, including modular displays, flight control, and national communication systems. These state-of-the-art features rival international civil aviation standards.

“Today’s delivery is a step forward in Turkey’s defense industry,” says Haluk Gorgun, head of the Defense Industries Agency, adding that Türkiye has become a recognized name in global defense.

Future Plans & Market Aspirations
Two additional Gökbeys will be delivered this year, with another 20 expected by 2025 for use by Türkiye’s army, coast guard, and security agencies. With civilian certification in progress, TAI aims to introduce the Gökbey globally.
