Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport

Connecting Jackson to the World, and the World to Jackson

JAN is the busiest airport in Mississippi, situated in the Central part of the state and serving the Capital region of Jackson with over 3,000 acres of property. JAN has service to several of the world’s busiest global hubs and is home to the Mississippi Air National Guard 172nd Airlift Wing.

While our nation continues to Wstruggle with the overwhelming effects of COVID-19, the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority, Mississippi, USA (JMAA) has experienced significant progression towards operational excellence.

Within the first six months of calendar year 2021, JMAA claimed numerous accolades.

The achievements of our organization’s leadership, accountability, and staff work ethic have contributed greatly to our overall success. Perhaps the most celebrated achievement of this year has been the inclusion of the Hawkins Field Airport (HKS) Terminal in the National Register of Historic Places, having operated proudly for nearly 100
years.

Earlier this year, the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport (JAN) was projected as 8th in the USA for passenger growth. Increased destinations and additional air service are at the core of our mission, “Connecting Jackson to the World, and the World to Jackson.” More choices for air travel at Jackson ultimately mean lower prices for our valued travelers. We intend to make air travel more accessible to the people of Central Mississippi in this manner and continue to deliver lasting value to our constituency.

This additional air service has highlighted the need for upgraded infrastructure. In June, we completed a high-priority partial terminal renovation in just 10 weeks. The vitally needed project increased the passenger security screening throughput by 300% on the west end of the terminal.

We will be undergoing further upgrades to our facilities, many of which will not be visible to the traveling public. Each of these actions is being undertaken to improve passenger convenience and safety.

This coming öscal year (October 1, 2021 to September 30. 2022) we will continue to support our airline partners and customers with renovated and expanded facilities. We also intend to re-open and expand our concessions program inside the terminals with authentic Mississippi cuisine.

Our commitment to Jackson’s youth will be renewed again next year with another round of top-notch aviation education at our JET-A flight academy. This is a highly celebrated program to train the next generation of aviation leaders within our community. This exposure to technology and knowledge in the öeld of aeronautics has been very well-received for two years in a row.

Continued progress is what we are striving to achieve. In addition to advancing our air service offerings, facilities, and concessions, our utmost priority is the health and safety of all airport employees, passengers, and customers. Our airports remain under the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) face covering mandate until further notice. As we emerge from the pandemic, we will continue thriving and reconnecting our passengers to the world!
