Grandhi Mallikarjun Rao, better known as GMR, is the founder and Chairman of the GMR Group. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Andhra University. He served as director on the Board of Vysya Bank for several years and as non-executive chairman of ING Vysya Bank between 2002 and 2006. GMR Group entered the airport space in the early 2000s and is today counted among the top 5 airport developers and operators globally. GMR Group presently owns and operates Delhi International Airport and Hyderabad International Airport. It is developing Goa’s Green field airport at Mopa. GMR Infrastructure in partnership with Megawide Construction Corporation of the Philippines is operating and developing Mactan Cebu International Airport.
