Capt. Amornvaj (Ben) Mansumitchai

Capt. Amornvaj (Ben) Mansumitchai was elected in May 2023 as the President of The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALFA). The non-profit group advocates for global aviation safely and represents over 100,000 pilots in more than 70 countries worldwide.

Capt. Mansumitchai, a Thai national, has shown his leadership skills early on by establishing the Thai Pilots Association Technical and Safety Committee, serving as its chairman from 2006-2007.

In 2007, he joined IFALFA as Regional Vice President-Asia East, a position he held through 2011. He also served as the organization’s Executive Vice President-Asia-Pacific and Deputy President before becoming the President of IFALFA.

An electrical engineering graduate from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, Capt. Mansumitchai began his aviation career as a flight engineer at Thai Airways in 1990 before becoming a pilot. Over the course of his illustrious career, Capt. Mansumitchai has flown the A300-B4, A300-600, B744, B734 (TRE and TRI), A330 & A340 (TRE, TRI, and test pilot), and A380-800 (TRI). He currently flies the A350 for Thai Airways and is also a type rating instructor on the A380.
