An advanced electronic warfare system for the Air Force’s F-15 fighters successfully completed a key operational testing phase, according to the company that makes it. The Air Force recently finished the initial operational test and evaluation phase for the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System, or EPAWSS, BAE Systems said Tuesday. BAE builds EPAWSS, which provides electronic warfare capabilities for the F-15E Strike Eagle and F-15EX Eagle II fighters. EPAWSS is a more advanced electronic warfare system than F-15s have had in the past, and BAE says it will allow fighters to monitor, jam and deceive threats in highly contested environments. It provides radar warning, geolocation, situational awareness and self-defense capabilities, allowing a fighter to maneuver more deeply and freely in enemy territory and counter air defense systems. The advanced EW system was initially only a central component of the F-15EX. But the Air Force, F-15 manufacturer Boeing and BAE....
The United States has announced an $80 million grant to Zambia for the supply of four Bell 412EP helicopters to the Zambia Air Force (ZAF), together with a three year training, service, and parts package. Zambia is expanding and modernising its rotary wing fleet, whose ‘backbone’ was until recently provided by some half a dozen Mil Mi-171Sh and Mi-171E utility and assault transport helicopters delivered from Russia between 2015 and 2017, and seven Chinese Z-9s. But in recent years, about a dozen surviving Agusta-Bell 205s have been augmented by three Bell/Agusta-Bell 412 helicopters from Italy and South Africa, and a second-hand Bell 212 previously operated by Era Helicopters in Canada. Zambia has also ordered two Enstrom 480B helicopters from the United States in February, for training pilots and personnel. Further North, the Royal Moroccan Air Force has taken delivery of the first pair of H135M helicopters of 12 ordered from....

Bombardier paved new ground in the business jet sector with the initial EPD it secured for the Global 7500 in 2020. The EPD was developed through the International EPD System, which has a library of declarations for products from more than 30 countries in an attempt to foster transparency about environmental life cycles. Third-party verified to international ISO standards, the EPD discloses detailed information about a product from raw material to end-of-life, including details such as CO2 emissions, noise, water consumption, and other key environmental impact indicators. Since 2020, Bombardier has been adding EPDs for each of its business jets—the Challenger 3500 followed in 2022 and then the Global 5500 and 6500 last year. “The role of EPDs is not to stamp our aircraft as more sustainable than others—rather, to take ownership of the environmental impact they generate,” explained Jean-Christophe Gallagher, executive v-p of aircraft sales and Bombardier Defense. “For....
A public information workshop held recently outlined future expansion plans for North Las Vegas Airport (KVGT). The meeting in the general aviation airport’s terminal was chaired by Eric Pfeifer, the senior planner and project manager at Coffman Associates, the consulting company chosen for the project. In cooperation with the FAA and Clark County Department of Aviation, several plans were shown that would extend the various taxiways and runways. Using land already set aside for the project, the plan is to consider extending and widening the 5,000-by-75-foot Runway 12R/30L to more than 6,000 feet long and 100 feet wide. Similarly, Runway 12L/30R will be upped from 4,199 by 75 feet to more than 4,300 feet long and 100 feet wide. Runway 7/25 would be unchanged at 5,005 by 75 feet. If extensions are carried out, the ILS also will have to be moved. Once current leases end, the plan includes removing....
